The triangular stone front was constructed between 1550 and 1559 by the Venetian architect Giovanni Girolama Sammichel.It is named after the Venetian Commander Hiernino Martinengo , who was sent to Cyprus as back-up force during the Ottoman- Venetian War. Inside, there are chmneys in order to allow smoke out , barrels for storing gunpowder, and small cells for storing gunpowder,and small cells for storing cannon balls.
